FLOWERS OF THE PROMENADE 2022

Triptych tapestry

Collaboration with reGALERIJA Zabok

The collection and the design- from which the tapestry Flowers of the Promenade was made- emerged after prolonged observation and seeking inspiration in nature. Nature serves as a constant source for me, from which I continuously draws elements that are then simplified and abstracted. This collection was conceived while reading the poetry collection Flowers of Evil, and the verses had a strong influence on the creation of the works. Each piece was compared and refined until it reached a point where it radiated the positive energy I wished to convey to the observer.

Following this, the Triptych Lamps were created as a further extension of the tapestry, designed to complement it. Thought continued experimentation with hollowing and refining forms- just as I had done throughout the collection- but instead of paper,  I now used fabric along with techniques of deconstruction, assembly, and sewing.

Why lamps? They connect back to the final idea that the piece radiates positive energy meant to be shared with the viewer. Light stimulates serotonin production, known as the “happiness hormone,” and through this uplifting concept, I sought to complete the Flowers of the Promenade narrative.
